AI Design System: solid-glass, making AI apps feel 'real'

Solid-glass is a design system, a visual toolkit, specifically crafted for artificial intelligence applications. It's not a new AI model. Instead, it tries to make AI feel less abstract and more like something tangible, almost touchable. deeplethe put it on GitHub for everyone.

Until recently, many AI interfaces looked like they escaped from a lab. Functional, yes, but aesthetically... let's just say 'minimalist.' Solid-glass, however, leans into a 'Material,' 'physical,' and 'tactile' aesthetic. This means buttons that feel like real buttons, smooth animations, and a visual logic that makes you feel like you're interacting with something solid. Not bad, right?

The idea of making AI 'physical' or 'tactile' is about breaking down the wall of abstraction. When you interact with AI, you often have no clue what's happening behind the scenes. A design system that echoes the real world can build trust and make the experience less intimidating, more 'human,' if you will.

Think about it: if an AI translation app had an interface that made you feel like you were turning pages in a book, wouldn't that be more pleasant? deeplethe, the creator of solid-glass, released the source code on GitHub in June 2024 to allow anyone to improve the aesthetics of their AI applications. After all, doesn't even the most brilliant mind deserve a nice frame?
