Dev.to: Dashboard Can't Count Its Own Posts (Seriously)

Dev.to, the go-to platform for millions of developers to publish articles, has a small, yet ironically amusing, accounting problem. It can't seem to keep track of all a user's posts, or rather, it doesn't count them all equally. A rather charming bug, if you ask me.

The issue was unearthed by Danny Waneri, who noticed a discrepancy between the total number of his posts shown on the dashboard and the number actually published. Essentially, the "posts" counter in the profile section only lists "published" articles, completely ignoring any drafts.

Well, for a platform built on content and code, having a dashboard that can't count its own content is a bit like a baker not knowing how many loaves they've baked. The funny part is that this bug was reported as part of DEV's "Summer Bug Smash," an initiative that rewards folks for finding and fixing these little digital mishaps.

Sentry, a company specializing in software error monitoring, is backing this bug hunt. So, while Sentry helps catch problems, Dev.to has a pretty obvious one right in its own house. It's not a world-ending bug, of course, but it's good for a chuckle and reminds us that even tech giants have their "oops" moments.
