Instagram AI: Mosseri says "don't like it? Then don't watch it."

Instagram isn't planning to act as a bouncer for AI-generated content. Adam Mosseri, Instagram's head honcho, made it perfectly clear: if you don't like AI, it's your problem, not the platform's. Basically, a gentle nudge to sort out your own feed.

Mosseri stated during an interview on Lenny Rachitsky's podcast that "I don't think we should filter out AI content." He believes Instagram should instead inform users when content is AI-generated, then let them decide. Kind of like saying, "I'll warn you, but then you're on your own."

The ball, apparently, is in the users' court. If your feed is brimming with machine-made images and videos that give you the creeps, the proposed solution is simple: unfollow or block the posters. What a chore, right? Instagram, the platform meant to simplify your life, is now asking you to do the dirty work.

Mosseri also added that his goal is "to help you find more of what you love and less of what you don't." Too bad for now, "I'll help you" translates to "I'll tell you it's AI, then it's up to you if you like it or not." Not exactly the user experience revolution we all dreamed of.
