The main upgrade: NotebookLM's engine has switched to Gemini 3.5, Google's freshest AI model. The promise is straightforward but promising: "more accurate and reliable" responses. What does that mean in practice? Fewer hallucinations (when AI just invents things), better at pulling real information from your docs. If the assistant used to be vague or slightly off sometimes, it should now do cleaner work.

But the real head-turner is what Google calls the "cloud computer." No, it's not a joke: NotebookLM now has a built-in space where the AI can run calculations, process data, and create mini-analyses without you hunting for extra tools or signing up for other services. Think of it as a tiny data lab right inside the app.
