Siri Finally Grows Up: Apple Intelligence Is Here (For Real This Time)

The story of Apple Intelligence is kind of a bill to settle. In 2023, they announced with great fanfare an integrated artificial intelligence that would change everything. In 2024: crickets. In 2025, Apple decided to actually do its homework and unveiled the "entirely new version of Siri" — their words, not ours.

This new Siri is no longer just a simple command-clicker. At least on paper. It can understand context, have conversations like a human (sort of), and most importantly, it knows who you are — something that makes a huge difference. If you tell it "send me a message with the same photo you showed me yesterday," it understands the photo, gets the context, knows you were talking about your cousin yesterday. It's not magic, but it's a huge leap from the old Siri that would stare blankly wondering what you meant.

But here's the fun part: Apple promises that most of this works on your device, not in Mountain View's servers. Which means your data stays yours — at least in theory. Because yes, some computations still go to Apple's servers, but they promise transparency (as if they ever promised that before, but let's move on).

The other interesting thing is that the new Siri isn't disconnected from the rest of Apple Intelligence. There are image generators, text rewriting tools, smart summaries. The whole package has been rethought. And yes, all of this also had a ton of delays, but at least it's finally in beta on some iPhones and Macs.

Crucial question: will it actually work? Beta testers say yes, at least more than before. Siri understands complex questions, doesn't offer you the weather when you ask for the weather (usually), and can do things that used to require ten steps. It's not at ChatGPT level or other AI yet, but for anyone living inside the Apple ecosystem, it's a game-changer.

The rollout will be gradual. iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia — but not all at once, obviously. Apple loves slow roll-outs and total control. By the end of 2025, we should have everything, barring hiccups. And considering the past, hiccups are always possible.
