Specifically, the Anionex/codex-deepseek-vision project on GitHub allows text-only models to invoke Codex's view_image tool. This is a significant leap, extending the capabilities of AI that, by their very nature, shouldn't have eyes. They haven't grown a retina, but it's pretty close.

It's not direct vision, but a clever interface. The toolkit translates the text model's requests into a command for Codex, which then uses its view_image tool to analyze the image and generate a textual description.
